Happy to be a self-employed musican!
After playing in many bands over the years all for the fun of it, I wanted to play more shows per week & go professional.
It can be very challenging to organise 4 or 5 other band members 2 or 3 times a week - annoyingly they have their own lives & commitments, working odd shift patterns, & then needing to get permission from their 'better halves.' As much as I love playing with a full group, I knew it wasn't practical.
I also decided I wanted to play the songs I chose, in the key I wanted to play them & at the tempo I saw fit for the song. The best way to accomplish all of the above was to play my own backing instruments the way I wanted them to sound, & then record my 'invisible band' - thus allowing me to sing & play lead guitar live & still sound like a full band!
