Porpoise

Porpoise are a UK based band who formed around January 2007 when the bass player (Jon Behrendt), guitarist (Pete Stanley) & drummer (Gareth McCabe) disbanded their old band Dials. Realising they still wanted to make music more than anything else, Pete rallied the band together hooking up with Singer/Guitarist Dave Halama (Knives Of Goya, Horse Called Chariot) who was known locally as a bit of a wizard of the shred. Their aim was to make noisy disjointed rock like their heroes: Flaming Lips, Guided By Voices, Pavement, Fugazi, Pixies & Mastodon, mixing them with the pop sensibilities/country noise of bands like Queen, The Beatles, Neil Young & Lynyrd Skynard. It's fair to say the band are a bunch of musos, but they never take themselves too seriously.
Late August 2007 saw the band put together their debut release 'III' which featured three tracks recorded with Tim Parkes & Eddie Morton at the Infamous Katie Fitzgerald's Pub in Stourbridge, West Midlands. Since then the band have gone on to play a series of successful, often wild live gigs.
The band thrive on live performance and feel their music is better made in an organic and diplomatic way. Imperfection is perfection in their eyes.
