Mizizi: roots influenced reggae from a ten-piece, powerful, partying, UK-based, reggae reviving outfit. Formed in 2010, Mizizi are currently filling the dance-floors with their non-stop two-hour-plus sets, which include an increasing repertoire of new songs and revived reggae classics, evoking comments like ‘Amazing sound’, ‘Absolutely brilliant’ and ‘Maximum respect’. Founded upon the love of roots reggae, Mizizi (a word simply meaning ‘roots’ in Swahili) take no short-cuts providing all the ingredients of ‘old school’ reggae, delivering even their newer material ‘the father’s way’. Mizizi thus features several male and female lead vocalists and its own brilliant horn section. Combine this with excellent keyboards, guitars, drums and percussion to complete the line-up; along with occasional guests, a little experimentation; the result is a reggae force not to be missed.
