Band Info

Slicing through the inhibitions of 21st century counterfeit culture, 35 Seconds attack the senses with an intensity that is unforgettable.

Siphoned from the creative isolation of Glasgow and the Black Country, the band bring together an enormous diversity of influences that shatter standard formulae. Common factors are evident but not definitive.

In essence a polyphonic face-off between Aphex Twin and The Smiths, 35 Seconds take the fundamentals of orthodox indie rock and skew every sinew with jagged guitars, loops and frenzied beats.

Namecheck the introspective brilliance of Red House Painters, the hyperactive indie of the Wonderstuff, the innovative vision of Bjork or the lyrical poetics of Billy Bragg for reference, but the similarities stop there.

35 Seconds create a multifaceted colossus of sound. The guitars range from playful and ambient to harsh and unsettling, capturing every sonic groove and fractured melody. Electronic dynamics and eclectic, experimental drumming add a further dimension and vibrancy that is addictive. With vocals drenched in confidence and personality, the lyrics are stark, scathing, despondent, yet hopeful.

Since 2002, 35 Seconds have showcased their devastating live presence at venues throughout the Midlands including Northampton's Penny Whistle, the Wolverhampton Varsity and the Birmingham Academy, playing alongside, among others, Ballboy, JimBob, Cyclefly and XisLoaded. Popular participants of the emergent Birmingham music scene, 35 Seconds have performed special sets for Media Assassin and Xposed magazines, Robannas Studios, Solar Creations, Overplay.co.uk and Birmingham City Council.

35 Seconds challenge the conventional. The result is immense
