The Countess of Huntingdon's Hall was built as a Calvinistic/Methodist chapel in 1773 by Selina, Countess of Huntingdon. The Chapel prospered until the second half of the twentieth century when congregations declined. The last service was held in 1976.

By this time the building was in a state of disrepair, and there was a move to demolish it. However, a determined group of Worcester people prevented this happening and, after ten years during which nearly £1 million was raised, the unique features of the chapel were repaired and restored.

Many of the original pews have been retained - with the addition of cushions, an indulgence which the Calvinistic/Methodist founders might not have approved of, but which does enhance the comfort of these beautiful examples of English church carpentry. A number of these cushions have fine needlework covers made by Worcestershire W.I. members.
